

I bought three ($200, IIRC) and have never gotten any of them to work in any of the HS. Regarding the Interarms magazines, I know several folks over on the Rimfire Central forum swear buy ‘em. I have the tool and have had to “tune” a couple, but eventually all have made the High Standard experience great. I have purchased several over the years and most have run with no issues. They all work flawlessly with the mags each pistol came with and are interchangeable. Any fail issues have always been magazine related. Allowing for memory lapse over a lengthy period, I don't recall seeing property markings on any of the army. In my experience the army bought target firearms off the shelf, identical to what the individual consumer would buy. The irascible old MSG (old bullseye shooters would recognize his name) running the place must have eventually retired, so perhaps his successor liked High Standards and hated M41s. I don't recall seeing any High Standards at Ft Benning, but who knows what they had squirreled away, or what they later acquired. When I moved on to the USATMTU at Ft Benning, we were told we would shoot the S&W Model 41 exclusively in. I shot my personal High Std in military competition and won matches with it at USARPAC level. I still think this pistol is the caterpillars spats. I have also used high speed ammunition with no problem That's not a recommendation, just a report. At the time I acquired an extra factory new magazine and have never had feeding problems.
